The bright yellow of this field of oil seed rape inspired me to paint this painting on a country road in Fife, Scotland. When the sun shines the yellow is almost blinding and I applied paint straight from the tube here to get that intensity. It was only April so the trees were still bare in contrast to the field and fresh green growth on the roadside. This is a very simple painting depicting a Scottish country road like the ones I walked in my youth.
“Country Road, Fife” was painted on site on 600g rough, mould-made Hahnemühle paper using Windsor and Newton watercolours paints. It comes mounted in a warm white mount to fit a standard frame size of 40x50cm.
