On a lovely spring day, I visited the busy harbour of the of Portree on the Isle of Skye and found this boat up out of the water for sanding and repainting. It was such an eye-catcher leaning against the old harbour wall in the sunshine that I just had to paint it. The quaint houses on the pier provide an interesting backdrop so that it is an altogether colourful scene and, of course, I had to include some of the seagulls flying overhead.
“Up for Repairs, Portree Harbour, Isle of Skye” was painted on site on 600g rough, mould-made Hahnemühle paper using Windsor and Newton watercolours paints. It comes mounted in a warm white mount to fit a standard frame size of 50x60cm.
