Wisteria

Description

This is my own wisteria which skirts our raised patio on two sides, entwining the railing there and forming a beautiful hedge. In winter, it is attractive too, as the bare wood curls around itself thereby weaving an interesting “basket” of intertwining branches. But in later April, early May, it becomes a spectacular display of lilacy-blue blossoms of up to 40cm in length, each competing with the other in beauty. Late in the afternoon, when the sun is low in the sky, the blossoms are particularly lovely and buzzing with life as bees collect the valuable pollen.

I painted this painting on site in the comfort of my own patio to capture the beauty of the wisteria before the blooms disappear for another year. If you click on “artwork in progress”, you can see the scene that was my inspiration and me painting the scene.

“Wisteria” comes with a white mount to fit a standard frame size of 50cmx70cm. and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. An original watercolour painting on Hahnemühle 600g mould-made watercolour paper using Windsor and Newton paints.
